Dangers Of Fumigation For Bed Bugs In The National News

Extreme Bed Bug Control

Published: November, 2023

What do we recommend for getting rid of bed bugs? Heat treatments is our only answer. Despite this, many people still opt for fumigation. But what you must understand is that this method is a lot more dangerous than you might think. Yes, the dangers of fumigation are greatly understated.

Why you need to be aware of the dangers of fumigation

For example, as reported by the BBC, British couple died due to a fumigation incident. The couple were holidaying in Egypt when a German tourist reported bed bugs in the room next door. This room was immediately fumigated with pesticides. The next morning, this couple fell seriously ill and were taken to hospital. By the next day, both had succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning and passed away.

A similar incident happened in South Africa. Once again, it was another couple who died. The apartment next door to them was fumigated for pests. As it turns out, the pesticide used was prohibited for residential use. And it’s not only clients who are dying. In the USA, two pest control technicians were killed after being exposed to pesticides during fumigation at a warehouse.

It should be obvious that the dangers of fumigation are far more serious that people make out, and not just damage it can do to your home. This is why, if you’re going to fumigate your home, it needs to be done by professionals. Unless the job is done correctly, there’s a good possibility that something could go seriously wrong.

Is there an alternative to fumigation for bed bugs?

This is one of the reasons why we’re so fanatic about heat treatments. The fact is that this industry is filled to the brim with inexperienced amateurs. These people are only after money and will gladly put your family at risk. They have zero concern when it comes to your health and the health of your children and pets. For them, the dangers of fumigation are an afterthought.

That’s why heat treatments are superior. With them your safety is guaranteed. This method of pest control does not use any pesticides at all and requires only a small amount of preparation. That might sound hard to believe, but zero chemicals are used during the process.

The method works entirely with heat. A heat generating machine is placed in the effected area (which is usually sealed off). This machine gradually increases the heat until all pests are killed.

This means that the danger of accidental poisoning is ZERO. What it also means is that no cleaning up is needed afterwards. You see, what a lot of people don’t realise, is that fumigation kills pests, but it also leaves a residue which is why heat treatment is better.

This means you have poison coating your kitchen counters, floors and sofas. Wherever the poison fumes are pumped, a residue is left behind. This needs to be cleaned off, and it’s a lot of hard work. Plus, you have to air out your home and wait for the fumes to dissipate.

The bottom line is that the dangers of fumigation are REAL. Do not gamble with your life and the lives of your family members. Choose heat treatments for a safer, healthier alternative.
