Ridding yourself of bed bugs is an enormously difficult undertaking. When doing this you have two options. You can call a professional and take care of the problem quickly and easily, or opt to do it yourself. But is this really a good idea? In our experience (and humble opinion) the answer is no. You see, there are several reasons why you should never try to do DIY bed bug control.
If you’re going to attempt DIY bed bug control and being prepared as possible, you’ll probably try the following. To start with, you’ll wash all bedding. Along with this you’ll vacuum you room and may even go through the trouble of vacuuming beneath your bed. You’ll also pick up and remove any visible bed bugs.
This is all very well, but the problem is that these methods are almost completely ineffective. The reason why is because bed bugs are extremely good at hiding. These bugs can squeeze themselves into the smallest of areas. They usually hide in cracks around your bed, and other hard to get areas. In fact, we’ve known them to get into some very strange places, like bedside clocks.
This means that doing things like washing your bedding or getting rid of your mattress is both useless and counterproductive. The bed bugs are not sitting there waiting for you to kill them. During the day they hide far away and wait for the lights to turn off.
Another extremist method of DIY bed bug control is throwing out your mattress. This is extremely stupid and usually a waste of a good mattress. You’ll also have to buy a new mattress. There’s a 99% chance that bed bugs are hiding in places other than your mattress, so please don’t do this.
People doing DIY bed bug control may also use over the counter chemicals instead of high temperatures. This could include things like bug sprays or bug bombs. These are only partially effective. Yes, you might get some of the bed bugs, but many others will survive.
By now we’ve hopefully convinced you that it’s a far better idea to hire a pro. We can quickly and effectively handle this problem. The way that we do this is with a heat treatment machine. This is basically a machine that heats your room up to a high temperature. This heat kills the bed bugs and their eggs, no matter where they are hiding. It’s almost like cooking the bugs in a stove. The added advantage of this is that no chemicals are used. This means the method is far safer for your health and you do not have to live with chemical residue.
