Believe it or not, bed bugs are a problem in most public areas. This includes the tube, buses, taxis and even libraries! Bed bugs have even been found in aeroplanes now. But why is this happening and what can you do to safeguard yourself?
According to several news outlets, bed bugs have been discovered in public libraries. For example, a book sale was recently halted when bed bugs were discovered between the pages of books. Another library was temporarily closed after these bugs were found crawling across a chair.
There are several reasons why bed bugs are a problem in public places like libraries and kids bringing them home from school. For starters, libraries are an unbelievably good place for bed bugs to hide. These buildings are filled with millions of tiny cracks and crevices where bed bugs can easily hide. An even bigger problem are the books themselves.
Bed bugs are extremely small and flat. This is why they are able to crawl into the smallest crevice and under things like bedside lights. This means they can easily hide between the
pages of books and also within the spines of books.
Also realise that hundreds of people pass through libraries on a monthly basis and you can pick up bed bugs from public places such as these. These people could be bringing bed bugs from home. These bugs crawl out of bags and off clothing and into the library. This is especially true if it’s a university library. Some students live in bed bugs infested properties, and then bring these bugs with them into the library.
Another reason why bed bugs are an ongoing problem in libraries is because this problem doesn’t really inconvenience most people. It’s not like at home where bud bugs are constantly biting you. The people who are most affected are the librarians and they go home at the end of the day anyway. This is why the issue has grown so out of control and has gone largely unnoticed up until now.
The bottom line is that bed bugs are a problem in libraries and they can hide in weird and wonderful places. You need to understand that this problem is real and happening right now, and you need to be careful. The best way to protect yourself is by thoroughly checking the books you take out. Remember, these library bed bugs are mostly hiding between the pages of books. This means you need to flip through each book and carefully examine its pages. Also look up the spine and if you can take the cover off, then do that as well. Finally, make sure to give your bag and clothing a once over.
