Bed bugs are one of the hardest pests to get rid of. This is especially true if you have furniture with bed bugs. This usually includes beds, sofas or chairs. Most people think they can solve this problem by washing their bedding, or vacuuming the affected room. Unfortunately, this is almost useless. No, this is a complex and difficult problem and may require extreme measures.
The big problem here is that most furniture contains hundreds of joints, crevices, and hiding places. A lot of the time, certain parts of these items are also inaccessible to humans. Unless you cut open your bed or sofa, you cannot get inside the furniture. This makes the issue extraordinarily difficult to solve, particularly because bed bugs multiply quickly.
This is why many people simply give up and throw away furniture with bed bugs. If you’re one of these people, it’s important that you do this safely. You see, you don’t want to make your problem somebody else’s problem. This is why you should never leave your unwanted furniture out on the pavement, even if you think the cold will kill bed bugs. Someone will come along and think they’ve found a piece of treasure.
So how do you deal with this problem correctly? First of all, did you know that most councils operate a mattress recycling scheme? All you have to do is contact your local council and they will safely remove the mattress. It’s really that easy. The council will also remove other furniture with bed bugs, such as sofas. All you have to do is contact them.
If you absolutely have to leave your old furniture on the street, then make people aware of the reason why. Leave a sign on the item which warns other people that there are bed bugs. Unfortunately, a lot of people will still take the furniture but at least you tried, and this is how bed bugs hitchhike into homes.
Finally, what you should actually understand is that throwing out furniture with bed bugs is unnecessary. The reason why is because professionals can solve this problem without breaking a sweat. We use something known as heat treatments. This is basically a method which uses heat that penetrates into the deepest parts of your furniture. This high heat kills the bed bugs, as well as their eggs and nymphs.
This solution is permanent and works 100% of the time. In as little as an afternoon, you can be free of this problem. Not only that, these heat treatments are also relatively cheap, compared to buying new furniture. Bottom line: don’t go through the hassle of throwing out your furniture. Before you do that, give us a call, and let our team of experts take care of the problem.
