How Bad Should It Be Before You Call Pest Control For Bed Bugs?

Extreme Bed Bug Control

Published: March, 2023

Bed bugs are one of the nastiest pests you’ll ever encounter. Unlike rats and mice, they do not simply steal food and damage your property. No, these pests bite and cause actual physical harm. Not only that, they can also create significant emotional and mental distress. That’s why most people try to get rid of them as quickly as possible. But here’s the question. How long can you put this problem off and at what point do you actually need pest control for bed bugs?

When should you start investigating pest control for bed bugs?

So, when should you get pest control for bed bugs? The answer to this question is entirely subjective. Some people call up the local exterminator immediately. Other people will wait for weeks or put it off entirely. In our experience, most people fall roughly halfway between these two extremes. You have to keep in mind that bed bugs multiply quickly.

What usually happens is that you wake up with one or two bites. At this point you ignore the problem and go on with your life. It’s not a big deal. Something bit you in the night, but there are far more important things to think about.

Unfortunately, this pattern then continues. You wake up the next morning with even more bites. This is when people start to realise that something is wrong. They begin to understand that something is biting them at night. After this the problem usually gets worse. A lot worse. Two or three weeks later you’re almost completely covered in bites. What’s even more frustrating is that these bites itch like crazy, affecting both your physical and mental health.

Have you left it too long to call pest control?

This is when it finally dawns on you that there are bed bugs in the bed and living in other places too. The first thing that people do in this scenario is frantically clean their bedding. They vacuum and wash everything. In most cases, this has almost no effect. Another two or three weeks pass and you’re waking up with even more bites. This is when a lot of people reach their breaking point and finally call an exterminator.

What we’re getting at is that there’s no perfect time to hire pest control for bed bugs. It’s not a question of waiting to see how bad things get. Things are going to get bad no matter what. These pests breed like crazy. A handful of bed bugs can turn into hundreds, and this can happen in only a few weeks. Even a single bed bug can make your life a misery, if it lays eggs.

The point is that pest control for bed bugs should be implemented immediately. Call in pest control as soon as you start noticing bugs. The longer your put this off, the worse the problem gets. Ultimately, it’s all about nipping this issue in the bud, and saving yourself from future misery.
