Can People With Bed Bugs Be Around Others Safely?

Extreme Bed Bug Control

Published: June, 2023

For some people, having bed bugs is something they want to hide. Perhaps it means they are dirty. This is why some individuals are deeply ashamed that they have bed bugs. In fact, this shame makes them not want to be around other folks. But is this really the truth? Should you avoid others if you have bed bugs? Let’s take a look at the facts. Here’s what you need to know about whether people with bed bugs can spread them.

Should you be worried about other people?

There are several reasons why bed bugs are viewed negatively. One of the biggest is because people think that bed bugs are caused by dirt and filth. This really isn’t true at all. Whether your home is clean or dirty has nothing to do with this. Bed bugs infest even the cleanest homes and can be picked up from public places.

Another problem is that for a lot of people, bed bugs almost feel like a disease. This is often because these pests are seemingly impossible to get rid of. This makes it feel as if people with bed bugs are afflicted with a condition that cannot be cured. This is why many folks worry that they’ll “spread” the bed bugs to their friends and family.

Can people with bed bugs spread them to others?

If you have bed bugs in your home, can you spread them to others? Can this actually happen? Unfortunately, the answer is yes. This is why you have to take steps to protect these individuals and to protect their physical and mental health. Note that you don’t necessarily have to tell them that you have these bugs. Those with bed bugs can stop themselves from spreading them. You do this is by making sure that you’re not bringing bed bugs into their home.

If you’re spending time with friends and family, then you need to check for bugs beforehand so they don’t hitch hike into their homes. Go over every item of clothing that you’re going to wear and thoroughly inspect for bugs. Also look through your pockets, bag, handbag and items you’re taking to the house. Bed bugs crawl on to things and may end up hitchhiking a ride to your friends’ house. This is something you don’t want. After all, you picked them up somewhere and brought them home.

Something else you need to do is stop your friends and family from sleeping in infested beds. Do not let people sleep in a bed or a room that has bed bugs, and neglect to tell them this. Doing that is unethical and not very pleasant. If you have to make an excuse, then make it. What you should really do is solve the problem. Bed bugs are not impossible to cure. In fact, these are one of the easiest pests to exterminate. All you have to do is contact your local pest company and ask for heat treatments. It’s really that easy, believe us.
