Bed Bug Fumigation Versus Heat Treatment

Extreme Bed Bug Control

Published: May, 2022

When eliminating bed bugs, you have two options. These include bed bug fumigation and heat treatments. In this article we’ll briefly discuss these options as well as which one is best for your situation.

Should you choose bed bug fumigation?

The most commonly used method for eliminating all pests, including bed bugs and fleas, is fumigation. This method has proved highly effective in the past and can quickly eliminate all bugs. But how does this work? Well, before doing any type of work including treating hotel rooms we make an inspection of your property. This allows us to determine the severity of your problem and decide on the best course of action.

When doing bed bug fumigation we first seal up the enclosed area. This can be as simple and closing the bedroom doors and windows, or creating some type of enclosure. At this point we begin to pump gas into the affected area. This usually takes several hours and you will be required to leave the house.

While this method is effective it does have many drawbacks. One of the biggest is that it uses highly noxious chemicals. Not everyone wants this chemical residue left behind in their home. This is especially true if you have pets or young children. You may also have environmental concerns.

The advantages of heat treatment for bed bugs

This is why we recommended that you choose a pest controller who uses heat treatment because it’s eco friendly. You see, pest control doesn’t necessarily have to involve chemicals. With heat treatments, heat is used instead of chemicals. The principle upon which this method works is simple. What scientists have discovered is that bed bugs die at a certain temperature. When the room reaches this temperature, the bugs as well as their eggs and nymphs, can no longer survive.

How this works in reality is that a heat treatment machine is placed in your room. You can think of this machine as a giant industrial heater. It gradually heats up the room until the desired temperature is reached and is then left there for 6-8 hours. By the end of this period all bed bugs are dead.

This method clearly has many advantages over bed bug fumigation. For starters, zero chemicals are used. Not one drop of poison. This is great for people who don’t like the idea of chemicals coating every inch of their house. It’s also great for people who care about the environment. Another huge advantage is speed. In general, heat treatments are a lot faster than bed bug fumigation.

The bottom line is that bed bug heat treatments in London are vastly superior. They’re faster, easier, and less dangerous. If you’re currently dealing with bed bugs, then we strongly recommend that you use this method.
